Planting
Programs at Six Nations
Kayanase
is currently offering the following new and exciting programs to
residents of Six Nations and New Credit to restore or plant trees on
their land,
program details are as follows:
Trees
Ontario 50 Million Tree Program:
-
Free native trees supplied by Kayanase for any resident of
either community with a minimum of 2 hectares (5 acres).

Residents may choose which kind of trees they want planted or
have their land assessed and get recommendations from Kayanase
staff.

Free tree planting on your land offered by Kayanase.

Minimum of
1,500 trees must be planted on your land.

Ensure there
is a minimum density of 1,000 trees per hectare or 400 trees per
acre.

Land must be
open or mostly open and not have been a woodland for 10 years
prior to this.

Residents
must agree not to remove the trees for up to 15 years.

Trees
planted through this program are for the land residents to keep.
Ontario
Power Generation (OPG) Planting Program:
-
Free native
trees, shrubs, and herbaceous species (wildflowers and grasses)
supplied by Kayanase for any resident in the community.

Any size
land available for planting is eligible (no limitations).

Free tree
planting on your land offered by Kayanase.

Residents
must agree not to remove the trees for up to 15 years.

Everything
planted through this program are for the land residents to keep.

Program aims
to restore habitat to enhance and protect biodiversity.
All
native trees and plants available through these programs comes from
locally sourced seed collected and grown by Kayanase.
