Vision

Healthy, biodiverse ecosystems across Ontario that are rich in Native plants.

Mission

To serve as a collective voice for Native Plant Nurseries and to supply quality native plant and seed and promote their use in restoring and sustaining healthy, biodiverse ecosytems in Ontario.

Objectives

Science/Policy 

  • Deveop a Native Seed Strategy for genetic conservation to ensure sustainable and genetically appropriate seed collecting (e.g., local, known provenance). 
  • Develop standards and share information for propagating plant material and managing plant pests and disease. 
  • Identify science and policy needs to ensure contiunued relevance and impact in achieving our mission.

Supply/Demand 

  • Develop standards and share information for labelling, marketing and distribution of native seed and plants. 
  • Work toward a reliable demand/supply relationship for the Native Plant industry in conjunction with clients and partners.

Planning/Communication 

  • Assist in the development of a strategic plan to giude the activites of the Native Plant industry 
  • Develop and implement a Communications Plan to engage and educate our internal and external audiences (sectors, partner agencies, government, First Nations, schools, etc.)
  • Showcase successes in demonstrating the benefits of native plants.
